   Year-end Reminders

As the calendar readies to turn the page to a new year, remember to turn your attention to ensuring your critical information is up to date. Have you moved? Are your beneficiaries still correct? Have they moved? Is there any outdated information on your policies? Any misinformation could mean delays for you or your heirs. Take the time for a quick review, and update things if necessary.

Beneficiaries

Only beneficiaries can be paid, so if yours are out of date, it could be a problem. Take a few short moments to review your beneficiaries in your Royal Arcanum policies and all your financial and legal documents. Contact us if there are any changes.

Contact Information

Have you moved? Changed your phone or email address? We use your address, email, and phone numbers to keep you informed of any important updates. If you have moved, changed your email, or have a new phone number, let us know.

Don’t Miss a Premium Payment

Have you changed your Bank account? Our CHECK-O-MATIC system will automatically deduct your premiums from your checking account -- as long as we have the correct account information. If you’ve changed your bank account, let us know so we can keep your policies in force and up to date. Your dues on annuities and paid-up policies can also be put on CHECK-O-MATIC.

Do Your Policies Need Other Changes?

A changing financial situation might mean you should make a change in your policies. Perhaps it’s time to increase your life insurance coverage to better protect your family, or begin investing in an annuity. New annuities can be started with as little as $500, and existing annuities can be increased in $100 increments. Review your needs and adjust them today.

Holiday Wishes from the Supreme Regent

Happy Holidays!!

I can’t believe we are approaching the end of 2025. I’ve had a wonderful time visiting the jurisdictions of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. During my visits, I have seen many old friends and have made many new ones. I am looking forward to visiting the remaining jurisdictions in 2026 and presenting my program, “Revive our Royal Arcanum Family”.

As we enter the holiday season, we are all looking forward to planning our holiday parties for our members. Please reach out to Errica Conforto for holiday gifts for your juniors.  If you are a smaller jurisdiction and can no longer hold a holiday party, I recommend sending a gift or a gift card to your junior members. This will show our junior members that we still think of them.

In addition to our celebrations with our friends and family, let us not forget the needs of those outside our Royal Arcanum family. This time of year, many people are struggling to put food on their table and provide other needs for their families. I encourage everyone to please find a way to bring joy to a family in need. There are many ways to help others during this time of the year, whether it be a donation to a food pantry or working at a soup kitchen, or collecting gifts for children.

During this busy time, please don’t forget “YOU”. It is very important to take care of yourself. Everyone needs time to relax and enjoy their friends and family. I wish everyone a very happy holiday season and Happy New Year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2026 Supreme Council Session in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Warm Regards,

Nicole M. Covelli
Supreme Regent

Giving Back in the Holiday Season

Giving back is rooted deeply in human history. The ancient Greek word philanthropia, from which the word philanthropy is derived, meant "love of mankind." The fraternal nature of the Royal Arcanum has always held kindness and caring to improve the welfare of our fellow human beings. The Royal Arcanum's constitution calls for us to unite fraternally, give moral and material aid, and assist widows and orphans; our councils and members have done just that since our founding.

With Thanksgiving in the rear view mirror, we remember that gratitude doesn't call on us just once a year on a Thursday in November. Giving back to our community, and especially paying attention to those in need in our society, is something that's always in season. Won't you make someone's holiday a little more special? Here are some ways you and your council can spread the cheer this season.

Volunteer at a shelter or food bank

Local shelters and food pantries are always looking for some help. Members of your council can give up a few hours to make a huge difference to these understaffed lifelines. The work can be surprisingly easy and incredibly rewarding.

Give to your local food bank

Grocery prices are always increasing, and families who can't work or can't earn enough depend on the extra support that food pantries provide. Grocery stores often offer a drop-box right in their store, or allow you to add a donation to your check-out total. This is an easy yet important way to give back for individuals or councils.

Give to a toy drive

Speaking of shopping, why not buy an extra toy or two during your gift shopping this year, and drop them off at a local collection? The children will thank you!

Visit a Senior Center

Visiting family or friends who are isolated at a senior center can bring them joy for days. And while there, be sure to greet and engage the other residents who may not have any family or friends. Give the gift of smiles!

Donate to a charity

Our members are very good at this suggestion, but not always at the end of the year. Why not make your last meeting of the year include a donation to a charity that's close to your heart--perhaps in honor of a member?

Pay for someone's coffee or meal

Paying it forward has a way of snowballing. Even if the recipient isn't needy, it tends to spur them on to pay it forward themselves, often increasing their giving. Why not start an avalanche of giving?

Donate blood

Give the gift of life. Blood banks are often on the edge of running out of blood plasma, so necessary for emergencies that can't be planned. Donate blood, and bring a friend, or bring your council members.

Give books to a local or school library

Our Supreme Regent has been encouraging our members to find ways to give books to their local library, local school, or other places that will gladly accept books for donations.

Whatever way of giving you choose, you'll find it very fulfilling. And do remember to drop us a note on the experience. We'd love to feature it in our next Bulletin.

Fort Dearborn Council #278

Shriners Hospital for Children

The newly formed partnership with Shriners Hospital for Children was extended by Fort Dearborn Council’s recent donation. When patients don’t have insurance, Shriners Hospital covers the cost of services, since the families of their patients are not charged. This donation is equivalent to a full radiology work-up for a patient, making a meaningful impact in the life of a child and the financial stability of the hospital.

   Inspirational quotes

“Lift up your eyes and see the good in the world, for we are people with an amazing capacity to do great good. And if only the minority choose to exercise this capacity to the smallest degree, oh how wondrous and sweet the deeds performed at but a few hands!”
