Have you made plans yet for the upcoming Supreme Council Session? Join us this July in historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania! The peaceful Amish country is home to a unique blend of attractions, entertainment, food, and shopping. It’s an ideal summer vacation spot, and an ideal place to help set the direction of the Royal Arcanum as we elect a new slate of officers.
The Session
Officers, representatives, and guests are expected to arrive on Sunday, July 26 to check into their rooms and pick up their registration packages. The Sessionwill open on Monday morning, July 27, and conclude on Tuesday, July 28. The Session will conduct its essential business efficiently, and incorporate our society's fraternal ceremonies to deliver a fulfilling experience.
Representatives and officers should dress business casual for official Session meetings and society ceremonies; the formal white-jacket dinner and Session suits or sports jackets requirements have been eliminated. Jackets or sweaters may be worn for comfort if desired.
The Site
The Session will be held at the Wyndham Resort & Conference Center, which provides contemporary accommodations and exceptional amenities in an ideal location on 160 sprawling acres. Attending the Session includes a Welcome dinner on Sunday evening to renew friendships with Arcanians across the country. Tuesday evening will cap off the Session with our traditional Theme Night dinner. Breakfasts are included daily, and Monday evening’s dinner has been left open to provide time to explore the restaurants in the area and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
All guests will enjoy access to free WiFi, an on-site fitness center, and a 1.9-mile walking trail. Each room includes a flat-screen TV, a laptop-sized safe, a coffee maker, ironing amenities, hair dryer, bath products, and bottled water. There is an on-site 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, a basketball court, and an indoor kids’ play area.
The Pennsylvania Dutch Country
Perfect summer weather is typical in Lancaster in late July, with highs averaging 86 ºF and lows averaging 66. Rainfall is usually limited to 11 days in July, so with luck, there won’t be any barriers to enjoying the area. Experience authentic Amish culture with a buggy ride and tour of a 19th century farmhouse and 12-acre village. Treat the kids to an afternoon at Dutch Wonderland and a ride aboard the Strasburg steam train, America’s oldest operating railroad. Get a great overview of 200 years of Pennsylvania Dutch culture at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, a living history museum. And of course you’ll want to grab local specialties from the Lancaster Central Market, the country’s oldest farmers’ market, or scoop up deals from two nearby outlet malls. For a change of pace, check out the American masterpieces at The Phillips Museum of Art, tour the Turkey Hill ice cream factory, or sip a glass of wine at a local vineyard.
