Have you made plans yet for the upcoming Supreme Council Session? Join us this July in historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania! The peaceful Amish country is home to a unique blend of attractions, entertainment, food, and shopping. It’s an ideal summer vacation spot, and an ideal place to help set the direction of the Royal Arcanum as we elect a new slate of officers.

The Session

Officers, representatives, and guests are expected to arrive on Sunday, July 26 to check into their rooms and pick up their registration packages. The Sessionwill open on Monday morning, July 27, and conclude on Tuesday, July 28. The Session will conduct its essential business efficiently, and incorporate our society's fraternal ceremonies to deliver a fulfilling experience.

Representatives and officers should dress business casual for official Session meetings and society ceremonies; the formal white-jacket dinner and Session suits or sports jackets requirements have been eliminated. Jackets or sweaters may be worn for comfort if desired.

The Site

The Session will be held at the Wyndham Resort & Conference Center, which provides contemporary accommodations and exceptional amenities in an ideal location on 160 sprawling acres. Attending the Session includes a Welcome dinner on Sunday evening to renew friendships with Arcanians across the country. Tuesday evening will cap off the Session with our traditional Theme Night dinner. Breakfasts are included daily, and Monday evening’s dinner has been left open to provide time to explore the restaurants in the area and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

All guests will enjoy access to free WiFi, an on-site fitness center, and a 1.9-mile walking trail. Each room includes a flat-screen TV, a laptop-sized safe, a coffee maker, ironing amenities, hair dryer, bath products, and bottled water. There is an on-site 18-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, a basketball court, and an indoor kids’ play area.

The Pennsylvania Dutch Country

Perfect summer weather is typical in Lancaster in late July, with highs averaging 86 ºF and lows averaging 66. Rainfall is usually limited to 11 days in July, so with luck, there won’t be any barriers to enjoying the area. Experience authentic Amish culture with a buggy ride and tour of a 19th century farmhouse and 12-acre village. Treat the kids to an afternoon at Dutch Wonderland and a ride aboard the Strasburg steam train, America’s oldest operating railroad. Get a great overview of 200 years of Pennsylvania Dutch culture at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, a living history museum. And of course you’ll want to grab local specialties from the Lancaster Central Market, the country’s oldest farmers’ market, or scoop up deals from two nearby outlet malls. For a change of pace, check out the American masterpieces at The Phillips Museum of Art, tour the Turkey Hill ice cream factory, or sip a glass of wine at a local vineyard.

Transportation

By air: Harrisburg International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

By train: The Lancaster Amtrak station is right in downtown Lancaster and is on the main line from Philadelphia to Harrisburg and Pittsburgh (known as the Keystone Corridor). There are daily trains from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, New York City, and Pittsburgh, as well as connecting trains from other locations served by Amtrak. It is a 15-minute drive from the station to the hotel.

By car: Free parking is available at the hotel for registered guests.

Reservations are required for everyone: all officers, representatives, and guests, including a deposit of $50 per person. Please use the reservation from the Bulletin.

Image   Session Representatives

Each Grand Council in good standing is allowed a minimum of two representatives to the Supreme Council Session; jurisdictions with large membership are allowed additional representatives. Representative votes count for more than officers to ensure the membership retains control of the society. Electing a new slate of officers set the direction of the leadership of our organization.

The Home Office has identified the number of representatives your jurisdiction is entitled to have and will provide that information to your Grand Council.Encourage your subordinate councils to become Supreme Council representatives. Remember that being a past Regent is no longer a requirement due to a constitutional amendment; those who have been members for at least 3 years and in good standing may serve asrepresentatives for their jurisdiction. First-time representatives are encouraged, as all current and past representatives are qualified to run for Supreme Council offices.

Trips to the Session for representatives include reimbursed travel expenses and trip costs, to the extent approved by the Supreme Council. Arrange for your representatives to attend the Session and help set the course for the Royal Arcanum for the next term.

Image   Call for Nominations

Please include an identification of the office you are seeking.

Session Charitable Initiative

The Royal Arcanum will be continuing the tradition of selecting and supporting a charitable organization in the local area of the site of the Session. The Fraternal Events Committee has chosen Lourdeshouse Maternity Home, which provides specialized, comprehensive maternity care and residential services to women in need in South Central Pennsylvania.

Located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Lourdeshouse Maternity Home is operated by Catholic Charities, the human services arm of the Catholic Church. The home provides a compassionate and supportive environment for pregnant women in need. Their programs offer shelter and individualized care to help mothers navigate the challenges of pregnancy and early motherhood.⁣

At the Session, we will be hosting a Baby Shower to support the needs of Lourdeshouse Maternity Home. Members and Councils are encouraged to support this initiative, whether they are attending the Session or not. We welcome monetary donations, gift cards, and new baby gifts of all sorts (sizes newborn through 24-months). Councils and officers have been notified of the project, giving all the chance to support this worthwhile cause.
